Tribute – Royston Yates
14 Aug 2018
To all the Family and Friends of Royston Yates.
For more than thirty years, Royston was a pastor of CRC Churches International. Credentialed in 1987, he was a well-loved and appreciated minister in numbers of CRC churches.
Together with his wife Maureen, they served faithfully CRC church communities at Christies Beach, Adelaide Sturt St and commenced in 1995 the CRC church at Seaford.
Royston was such a lover of people. His pastoral care ministered to and supported so many over the years. His love for Bible teaching drew people to him. In 1995, a Bible study group he had been facilitating, encouraged him to commence the church at Seaford, which still meets! He led this church until his retirement in 2000 at 74 years of age. He then continued for a season of itinerate ministry.
We honour Royston for his many years of service in pastoral leadership within our Movement. His teaching, administrative gifting, spiritual passion and love for God’s Word, together with that unique sense of humour he possessed, made him such a blessing and encouragement to many. We will remember his warm smile, the twinkle in his eyes and the beautiful lilt of his voice, honouring his British roots! This former car salesman turned pastor, became a wonderful salesman for his Lord! Together with Maureen, Royston dedicated his life to the service of others. We thank him for the spiritual input and life in Christ he brought to so many.
On behalf of all the CRC Churches International, we express our gratitude in the Lord for having known and served with Royston. We honour him as a colleague in the Lord and for his years of faithful ministry.
May God’s encouragement and comfort be with you all.
Yours in Christ,
Hans Voortman
