Bert was a CRC pastor and led our Warragul CRC Church for a number of years. He was a dear friend of many within our Movement including Bill & Cathy Vasilakis.

Deepest condolences Judy, Clive, Denise, Adam and family on the passing of your dear Husband, Dad & Grandad.

Cathy & have been reminiscing about how good a friend Bert became to us while we doing Bible College together in the early 1970’s.

We so loved fellowshipping on Friday nights after a week of lectures at Bert & Judy’s place and did we have a lot of laughs. It was the fun place to be, though poor little Clive would come out crying due to all the commotion we were making.

Bert was so serious in his studies and yet had a cheeky sense of humour, and was like a big brother to me as a young enthusiastic 19 year old who had recently come to Christ.

I loved him and so enjoyed sharing the Word with him and talking about Jesus, and what God may have in  mind for our lives after we finished our training.

I visited New Zealand a year after graduation and preached in Bert’s church, and again I have such good memories of his kindness & concern as I was going through a rough patch.

It was Bert that helped me see that there was a beautiful young girl in the first year Bible College class who was interested in a skinny Greek kid.

He shamelessly did it in a way so everyone in the first & second year classes would know and so I would really get it…I did get it and she became my wife and we celebrate 40 yrs of marriage this August.

Thanks Bert for being a good buddy who positively influenced me, and thank you Jesus that dear Bert is safe and secure and rejoicing in Your presence in heaven.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers as you celebrate the life of a good and godly man.
