Tribute – Pr Mike Collins
25 Nov 2017
On Friday 24 November, Pr Mike Collins passed on to be with the Lord.
Mike had a long and important history with the CRC beginning in the early 70’s.
Mike and Roey’s first plant was the Broadmeadows Full Gospel Church. This church later became Essendon CRC. Essendon planted out Gisbourn and Tullamarine CRC churches. They later established the Sunbury church, which Mike pastored for a number years. Almost twenty years ago Mike and Roey moved to Mansfield to pastor the church there and recently passed it over to Nathan and Saskia Bargerbos.
On two occasions Mike was elected to the Victorian State Executive where he served well and gave strong support for local pastors. He also gave good leadership in the western region for many years and released a number of young ministers who are now pastoring churches in their own right.
Mike was also very enthusiast about the Easter and Christmas camps at Merricks and was remembered for his comedic Bob Hope impersonations that highlighted ‘goings-on’ during the week.
Mike completed his Bachelor of Theology from Vision College.
Mike will be remembered as a pioneer pastor who was used by God to reach the western area of Melbourne while serving the movement faithfully.
We extend our condolences to Roey, Joanne and Julie and the family for their loss.
