From our leaders
Pastor Bill Vasilakis
Australian National ChairmanThe CRC in Australia has worked over the years to establish important projects, leading to the expansion of our spiritual ministry and influence in key nations.
We have developed Bethel Tabernacle in Port Moresby, PNG in the 1990’s and the Philippines project in Cebu during the 2000’s. These two major church facilities are helping spearhead mission into these two nations and beyond.
In 2010 we were ready to increase our spiritual efforts in Sri Lanka. Central to this was the need to establish a centre for our Colombo church. This base will facilitate our capacity to grow and to launch outreaches into this nation of over 20 million people.
What an honour it is to partner with the CRC in nations like Sri Lanka, extending Jesus’ influence at a time when war- ravaged people need His healing touch.
I would love to see every CRC church in Australia support this venture according to their size and means. Please join us in prayer that the Colombo project will be realised for God’s glory.
Pastor Mike Cronin
Australian Missions DirectorThrough the generous giving of many of our CRC churches over the past 4 years we have fully paid for the land and now have $83,000 toward the building.
Given the 5 year commitments that were made 4 years ago we could realistically expect this to increase to $150,000 toward the building by this time 2015. This is $100,000 short of our original target.
With rising costs over recent years it is now projected that we will need at least a total of $400,000 to complete the first stage. Ground, first and second floors.
The cheapest time to build is now!
We appreciate all that has been given so far. To complete this movement wide project we need to raise an extra $250,000 above existing commitments.
Pastor Barry Silverback
International Missions DirectorI have known and worked with Pastor Somanathan for many years and have seen his dedication and commitment to the cause of the Gospel in the midst of extreme conditions because of the 30 year war which has raged in his nation. He and his family have displayed a commitment to Christ and the salvation of his fellow brethren which has been nothing less than inspiring.
Under extreme difficulties they have grown the church and given oversight to the pioneering of churches and Children’s homes and other ministries sponsored by the CRC.
I am personally thrilled to see this project taking place and enthused at the possibilities it raises for ministry and missions potential in this nation and region.
